BEFORE YOUR TRIP

Important steps to follow:

Our VANOUR has 3 or 4 doors: driver, co-driver, right side door, and in some models the trunk. Only the driver and passenger doors have key locks. The other doors – the door slider and trunk – are unlocked with the unlock button after turning on the ignition switch of the car at the second turn or has an additional key.

Remember that you are driving a motor home. Take care of it as if it were your home. It is not 4×4, you should not drive in Cross-Country areas. It circulates on paved roads and reasonable dirt roads.

  1. Check what type of gas the van you are renting uses.
  2. Open the driver’s door to open the fuel compartment.
  3. This part is very delicate if left open, it can break easily.
  4. Be sure to close the fuel compartment before closing the driver’s door.

You can control the temperature of the refrigerator and freezer with the buttons on the right side.

  • Localize the drawers. Here you can store dry food, cooking utensils, tea, napkins, etc.
  • Also there is a shelf for spices, coffee and cooking sticks.
  • Recommendation for use: secure all drawer and drawer buttons before starting the van.
  • There are several clothes drawers
  • There is a space for computers and valuables.
  • There is a laundry drawer.
  • All the drawers have a button or a specialized system that must be held closed when the VANOUR is in motion.
  • Analyze the function of each drawer to open and close.

DURING YOUR TRIP

Important steps to follow:

It is important you follow these instructions so you have a pleasant trip and settle in properly.

The awning  is on the co-driver’s side. Your front will be the sliding door.

  • If your VANOUR has a Lagun Table
      • Set up your Lagun table for work and dining:
      • Push the driver’s chair forward and recline the seat toward the steering wheel.
      • Pull out the table. Turn the lever at the bottom. There are two pieces, one goes to the wood and the other is a tube that you have to pull up. You loosen it, pull it up and tighten/secure it again. The wooden table goes into the tube and you secure it with the lever.
      • Watch example
  • Also If your VANOUR has a Copilot’s swivel chair
    • The co-driver’s seat has two levers at the bottom. With the upper lever you push the seat towards the windshield. The lower, black lever is raised and simultaneously the seat must be rotated counterclockwise 180° (into the VANOUR) in order to turn around and look at the kitchen. The seat belt will remain behind the seat.
    • Watch example
  1. The awning is located under the bed on the co-pilot side, it is a Hasika bag that also contains some Heavy Duty Magnetic Hooks magnets.
  2. It’s very easy to install and works like a tent. Open the bag and pull out the different sizes of steel rod tent.
  3. Unroll the awning, and install the large steel rods and cross them from side to side forming an “X”. Then hook them with claws into the awning.
  4. Flip the awning over and assemble the small steel bar. Then install it inside the awning and cross it from side to side to form a dome.  Tie it in the center with one of the slats.
  5. Place the awning as it suits you best in the van. It can be at the entrance of the passenger’s sliding door or at the back of the van (where the trunk is).
  6. Then secure the awning with the magnets to the van.
  7. Finally you can use the thick steel bars to determine the angle of the awning size.

You can control the temperature of the refrigerator and freezer with the buttons on the right side.

  • Some VANOURs have a pedal below the sink to activate the water pump. The faucet must be open (raised).
  • Other vans have electric water pump.
  • This water is not drinking water. Your drinking water will be in your carafe, and you will have a pump to draw water and put it in your canteens.
  • Once the usage of water is empty you have to refill it from an outside faucet.
  • When refilling the gallons we recommend using clean water from the faucet because you will be brushing your teeth, etc. with that water.
  • Remember that you have limited water. Use water wisely when washing dishes and washing your hands.
  • The pee utensil is located in the drawer under the sink. Men can pee directly into the duck.
  • Women can place the complementary funnel.
  • The use is easy and just as simple as using a traditional toilet. The steps to follow for most portable chemical toilets are:
  1. Place the toilet in a stable place.
  2. Clean the seat.
  3. Put decomposing liquid in the tank and use liquid in the cistern.
  4. Open the lid and relieve yourself.
  5. Pull the lever that connects to the cistern.
  6. After several uses, empty the waste into an approved drain.
  7. Disinfect the toilet with the tablets for good maintenance.
  • Some VANOUR’s have inside or outside showers
  • For inside showers the system works the same as in your house. Just ask where you can open or close the thermostat for hot water.
  • For outside showers: The shower hose and shower curtain are stored in the trunk, open the trunk doors completely. Place the plastic curtain around the doors to create an enclosed chamber.
  • Tie the ends on the outside of each door with the magnets and the plastic vacuum sucker.
  • Unwind the hose from the shower head and plug the end of the charger into the electrical switch on the far left side of the trunk.
  • If you would like to heat the water a little for a warm bath, you can put some hot -not boiling- water in the gallon.
  • To turn on the water, press the button on the switch in the middle of the hose.
  • When finished stored it as you find it
    Watch example
  • Some roofs have a wooden deck (on the driver’s side) where you can sit or lie down to watch the sunset. You can climb on the roof with the sailor’s ladder or the folding truck steps.
  • Important: never step on the solar panels and be careful with the cables.
  • This depends on the VANOUR you are staying but in general we have:
  • three thermal blankets: one for the windshield and two for each driver and passenger window. The shiny part goes out. They are held with velcro on the window frame. The one on the windshield has a hole at the top for the rear-view mirror. Make sure it’s in the right direction.
  • The blinds on the side windows are sliding, hooked onto a metal washer.

The Fan has 4 buttons:

  1. ON/OFF,
  2. Speed +
  3. Speed –
  4. Change of direction: Option 1: fan, it blows air in (recommended to leave on while you sleep) and extractor fan blows out air (recommended while you cook).

Important Care

  • Solar panels: do not step on them. They are on the roof and are the energy source of the VANOUR.
  • Electrical part: Do not wet cables, do not disconnect cables, see video on how to use the stove.
  • Cleaning: sweep the floor regularly, do not enter with dirty shoes. Put everything in the drawers and secure safety buttons before starting.
  • Never light candles inside the VANOUR, or leave cords unused.
  • Always keep surfaces clean to prevent insects from entering the VANOUR.
  • At dusk, keep doors closed to prevent moths and mosquitoes from entering the VANOUR when the lights are on.
  • Close windows when in dusty areas to avoid soiling the inside of the VANOUR.
